Glycerin
Glycerin is one of the most obvious sources of hydration, but in high concentrations it can create a sticky feeling on the skin. For this reason we combine several similar hydrating ingredients so that the amount of glycerin can be carefully balanced. This allows us to maintain strong hydration while avoiding the less desirable sticky effect.

Pentylene Glycol
Pentylene Glycol is obtained through enzymatic fermentation of sugarcane sugars, meaning no petroleum is involved in its production. It is an excellent moisturizing ingredient and also acts as a smart preservation booster, helping formulas remain stable with a lower concentration of preservatives.

Propanediol
Propanediol is a skin-friendly glycol that can be derived from plant sources, often produced from corn sugar. In cosmetics it functions as a mild humectant and solvent that helps hydrate the skin, influence the viscosity of a formula and distribute active ingredients more evenly. Thanks to its production through green chemistry from natural sugars and its very gentle, non-irritating profile, it fits perfectly within a natural cosmetics claim.

Lactic Acid and Sodium Lactate
These ingredients are essential components of the Natural Moisturizing Factor and are also among the most effective natural preservatives. They function as natural pH buffers, support skin hydration in a highly efficient way and contribute to the microbial stability of the formula even at low concentrations.

Isosorbide
Isosorbide is a multifunctional plant-derived molecule produced through the dehydration of sorbitol, usually obtained from corn or other sugar-rich crops. In cosmetics it is used as an innovative and skin-friendly humectant that helps attract and retain moisture.

Niacinamide
Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that helps strengthen, calm and even out the skin. In skincare it is known for its broad range of benefits: it supports the skin barrier, reduces redness and helps refine pores and pigmentation. Because it is a biologically identical vitamin that can also be derived from natural sources, it fits well within a natural cosmetics claim, especially in skin-improving formulations.

Rosa Damascena Flower Water
Rose water is the soft aromatic water obtained during the steam distillation of Damask roses. It contains volatile components of the flower and is known for its soothing, hydrating and refreshing properties. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

Bisabolol
Bisabolol is a valuable plant-derived compound originally discovered as a skin-active component in chamomile flowers. It calms sensitive skin and increases the tolerance of other beneficial skincare ingredients, significantly reducing the risk of irritation.

Berberis Aristata Root Extract
This extract, known from Traditional Chinese Medicine and traditional Indian medicine such as Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani, has a wide range of beneficial properties. It functions as a natural preservative, a gentle light-yellow colorant and a versatile antioxidant even in very low concentrations. It is considered an essential ingredient in modern high-performance skincare.

Scutellaria Alpina Flower, Leaf and Stem Extract (Skullcap)
This extract is also well known in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. The alpine species contains a broad spectrum of flavonoids and polyphenols with specific structures that are important for overall health and have interesting effects on the skin. It is naturally ochre yellow and contributes to OWRA’s characteristic light yellow color in a completely natural way.

Sideritis Scardica Flower, Leaf and Stem Extract
Extract of Greek mountain tea is known for its rich combination of flavonoids and phenolic acids. These compounds complement the activity of Scutellaria and Berberis and contribute to strong synergistic antioxidant protection.

Panthenol (Provitamin B5)
Panthenol is an extremely versatile active ingredient that is often underestimated. Numerous scientific studies confirm its hydrating, soothing and skin-repairing properties. It deeply hydrates, visibly strengthens the skin barrier and improves the fiber structure of the skin, making it a high-performance ingredient that elevates any formula.

Oryza Sativa Bran Oil
Rice bran oil is a gentle plant oil rich in antioxidants such as ferulic acid, vitamin E and oryzanol. It nourishes and softens the skin while protecting it from oxidative stress and providing a light, non-greasy texture.

Oryza Sativa Starch
This natural starch fraction is specifically used in cosmetic applications. It works effectively as an anti-shine ingredient by absorbing excess oil and providing a soft mattifying effect without leaving the skin feeling dry or powdery.

Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil with Calendula Extract
Sunflower oil infused with calendula petals allows the fat-soluble healing compounds of the flower to dissolve into the oil. This creates a gentle nourishing oil fraction that helps soothe and repair the skin.

Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil
Macadamia oil is a very skin-friendly plant oil rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, including palmitoleic acid, a fatty acid that naturally occurs in human skin. It softens and nourishes the skin and supports the skin barrier without leaving a heavy or greasy feeling.

Cocos Nucifera Oil
Coconut oil is a plant oil rich in softening fatty acids that leave the skin feeling nourished and supple. In cosmetics it acts as a natural emollient within the oil phase of an emulsion. Because it is obtained directly from the coconut and requires minimal processing, it fits perfectly within a natural cosmetics claim.

Potassium Cetyl Phosphate
This is the most commonly used emulsifier in OWRA products. Although it is not strictly fully natural, it is a simple modification of palmitic acid, an essential fatty acid recognizable as “cetyl” in INCI names. By attaching a phosphate group a polar side is created, allowing the molecule to function as a highly efficient emulsifier.

Phosphate groups are among the most common functional groups in human cells. This emulsifier therefore combines two body-identical building blocks: palmitic acid and phosphate, making it a very skin-friendly choice.

Another advantage is that Potassium Cetyl Phosphate can be used in much lower concentrations than most natural emulsifiers. It forms very stable micelles that penetrate the skin well and create a smooth, comfortable texture in the emulsion. Because of this low dosage it is rarely a source of irritation.

Propanediol Dicaprylate
Propanediol Dicaprylate is an emollient produced through oleochemistry that helps create a light, non-greasy finish in cosmetic formulas. It acts as a skin-friendly softening agent and as an efficient solvent. Because it is derived from plant fatty acids and is fully biodegradable, it fits well within modern sustainable and natural cosmetic claims.

Cetearyl Alcohol
Cetearyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol derived from plant oils and is used to make formulas stable, creamy and easy to spread. It functions as an emollient and co-emulsifier that improves skin feel and hydration without irritating the skin. Despite its name, it is not the same as drying alcohol.

Diisooctyl Succinate
Diisooctyl Succinate is a light skin-friendly ester used to make formulas softer, less greasy and easier to spread. It provides a smooth skin feel without being occlusive, meaning it does not clog pores. Because it can be derived from succinic acid, a substance that also occurs in nature, it fits well within a natural cosmetics claim.
